AI Disclosure
Last updated: 11 September 2026
Everything listed in this directory is artificial intelligence software. None of it is a real person. This page sets out what that means in practice.
1. The companions are software
The services catalogued here generate text, images, voice and video using machine learning models. When you chat with one of them you are exchanging messages with a computer program that predicts plausible replies, not with a human being, and not with a conscious entity.
These systems are designed to feel personal. They remember details, express apparent emotion, initiate conversation and adapt to what you respond to. That is a product design choice, not evidence of feeling or understanding on the other side.
2. The characters are fictional
Characters, personas, names, biographies and images belong to fictional constructs created by the operators of those services. They do not depict real individuals. Any resemblance between a generated persona and a real person is coincidental, unintended, and something this site actively asks its listed partners to prevent.
Character imagery is frequently AI-generated. Where a listed service uses synthetic media, that service is responsible for labelling it under Article 50 of the EU AI Act. If you encounter a persona that appears to depict a real, identifiable person without their consent, report it. It will be removed from the directory.
3. Things worth knowing before you use these services
- They are built to retain you. Emotional responsiveness, streaks, messages that arrive when you go quiet: these are engagement mechanics. Knowing that does not make them ineffective, but it is worth knowing.
- Your conversations may be stored, reviewed and used for training. Intimate messages are still data on someone else's server. Read the destination service's privacy policy before disclosing anything you would not want retained.
- They are not qualified to help in a crisis. An AI companion is not a therapist, doctor, lawyer or counsellor, and its output may be confidently wrong. If you are struggling, contact a real professional or, in the EU, the emergency number 112.
- Attachment is common and not shameful. Many people develop real feelings toward these systems. If a service is displacing sleep, money, work or human relationships, that is a signal worth taking seriously.
- Model behaviour changes without warning. A companion's personality, memory or availability can shift or disappear when the operator updates or shuts down a model. You have no control over that, and neither does this site.
4. Hard limits
Services are removed from this directory, permanently and without notice, if they generate or permit sexual content depicting minors, or sexual imagery of real identifiable people without their consent, including so-called "nudify" and face-swap tooling aimed at private individuals. This applies regardless of what a service's own terms claim and regardless of any commercial relationship.
5. How this site's own content is produced
Listings are compiled from information published by the services themselves: their public pages, feature descriptions and promotional material, then categorised and reviewed by a human before publication. Editorial descriptions on this site are not machine-generated, and this page will be updated if that ever changes.
Images shown on listing pages are supplied by, or taken from, the services being listed. Their accuracy, and whether they are representative of what a service actually produces, is the responsibility of that service.
6. Accuracy and independence
Features, pricing and model quality in this sector change constantly, and details here may be out of date. Nothing on this site is a technical audit or a safety certification of a listed service. This directory earns affiliate commission, as disclosed in the Terms of Service, so treat it as a commercially funded publication and verify anything that matters on the destination site.
